Quick Change Artists drive from UK to Sweden to fulfill Paper Conference Event!

The International Quick Change Artists have just returned after a very long road trip to Sweden! Since the volcanic eruption and the problems with the flights occurring close to this last event the costume change artists - Keelan and Charlotte decided it would be safer to make alternative travel arrangements in order to ensure they made it to the Paper Conference in time for their performance at the gala dinner.

Keelan and Charlotte set off from the UK on Friday night to catch the overnight ferry from Harwich to Hoek of Holland, then drove from Holland to Gothenburg, North Sweden on Saturday totally 13 hours drive. The event was held on Monday night in the SAS Radisson Hotel combined with the dinner in an old style restaurant come theatre which was 200 years old. The Quick Change Artists performed after the main course for the guests and the theme of "Change" was one that was very happy to be taken on after much controversy surrounding the recent paper strikes in Sweden. The delegates enjoyed the show and expressed their amazement when the Quick Change Artists got to meet some of them after the event.

Shortly after the Quick Change Performance, Keelan and Charlotte headed back onto the road in order to catch the Tuesday overnight ferry back to the UK.

Despite the extremely long road trip, when it should have been a very short flight, the Quick Change Artists appreciated a change from the normal "airport routine" and got to drive across 4 different countries and saw the more scenic route of them all!

Hocus Pocus - Cairo Magic Show featuring Quick Change Artists - April 10

Keelan and Charlotte the Costume Change Artists were delighted to be invited back to Cairo to perform for Events Plus in their second Magic Show in Cairo. The Quick Change Artists performed at the first ever magic show in Cairo organised by the same company last April which was a fabulous show and the Quick Change Artists met some legends of magic.

The second Magic Show was scheduled to be held in December, and the Quick Change Act were disappointed when they were informed that the show had been cancelled due to the Swine Flu outbreak. Government regulations had banned all large scale public events to reduce the risk of the infection spreading. Keelan and Charlotte were informed that the show would be postponed until 2010.

Thankfully when the dates had been decided for the shows in 2010 – Keelan and Charlotte were not already booked like some of the other acts that were due to appear in the show who were forced to pull out of the show. The Cairo Magic Show was sponsored by Mobinil and of the 6 shows the Quick Change Artists were performing in, 2 of these were booked out by clients and employees of the Mobile Phone network. The other 3 shows were open to the public through ticket sales and the sixth show was a charity event that was held for 1500 Egyptian orphans who were invited to come and watch the show for free.

The Egyptian crowd are very appreciative audience and responded well to all of the acts. The Quick Change Artists were closing the show with their spectacular Costume Change Act. Opening the show was German Magician – Tim Marc, followed by Comedy Magician – Michael Finney, then expert manipulator Danny Cole from the USA, then Scottish Dark Comedian Magicians – Barry and Stuart. The entire cast of entertainers were a wonderful group and everyone had a fabulous time.

The Cairo Magic Show was really well marketed and there were TV and Radio Adverts and large bill boards all over Cairo advertising the show.

Overall a very successful production show which hopefully will continue to bring the magic to Cairo, Egypt next year as well!

Quick Change Artists perform for Saudi Royalty

Also while the British Quick Change Artists were away in India, they had a last minute inquiry for a show in Morocco which was happening on the coming weekend.

The Quick Change Act were due to leave India on the Saturday morning and arrive in London on the Saturday night, so thought it would not be possible. However, fortunately for them the show was put back until the Monday which meant they were able to take on the show.

They left India on the Saturday morning as planned, arrived in London around 9pm Saturday night and left for Morocco at 5am on Sunday morning, barely even time for a shower, the quick change illusionists headed to Morocco to perform at what they thought would be a standard corporate event.

The received 5* treatment all the way and when they found out who they were working for it came as a pleasant surprise!

The British Quick Change Artists had been hired to perform a 4 minute version of their Quick Change Act for the King of Saudi Arabia, his brother the Prince of Saudi Arabia and a few close friends of theirs.

The event was held at one of their Moroccan palaces and the performance took place under the stars over looking the ocean. It certainly was an incredible experience and when Keelan and Charlotte met the Prince after the performance he gave them fantastic complements and said that he hadn't seen anything like their act in all his years of traveling which was a wonderful complement for the Quick Change Artists.

They were working with several other artists including a Hand Balancing Act from Cirque du Solei, a drag queen, several troupes of dancers and a juggler.

It was a very brief trip but a brilliant experience and opportunity for the Quick Change Artists, who hope to work for the King and Prince in the future.

Quick Change Artists Appear on Britain's Got Talent!

Keelan Leyser and Charlotte Marie, the British Quick Change Artists appeared on the popular TV show - Britain's Got Talent last week on the final show of the auditions.

The British Couple who have been performing their Quick Change Act for the past 3.5 years auditioned for the show back in January. They went straight into the 2nd round after they were head hunted by the shows producers to appear on Britain's Got Talent. They were asked to appear for the first 2 series but had always been working abroad and weren't able to make it back to the UK for the auditions. In 2009 they were in the UK, so auditioned at the Hammersmith Apollo, London in front of the three judges; Simon Cowell. Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden and a packed theatre of 4000!

They performed a shortened 2 minute version of their usual 8 minute Quick Change Act which went down a storm with the entire audience and all the judges. They received a standing ovation for their quick change act and were put through to the live semi finals of the show.

Unfortunately, between the auditions and the live semi finals, the Quick Change Artists received a booking for a tour of India for Sports Channel giant ESPN, so were unable to perform in the live semi finals as the dates clashed!

Quick Change Artists perform in Europe!

Keelan Leyser and Charlotte Marie, the UK's only Quick Change Act have just got back from performing their quick change magic and illusion show in Rome, Italy last weekend.

The British couple who have been performing the Quick Change Act for around 4 years enjoyed a short trip to Italy last weekend, which made a pleasant change to perform in Europe.

The Quick Change Artists spend most of their time outside the UK as there is a high demand for their incredible dress change magic in Asia, especially in India. Keelan and Charlotte find themselves, frequently flying back and forth from India to perform at so many different corporate events and parties.

To perform in Rome, Italy was a lovely change. A short flight and a short trip made it very enjoyable. The event was put on by General Motors as a celebration for their Asian Pacific top sales people.

The event was held in a beautiful villa overlooking the whole of the city of Rome. The Quick Change Artists were booked to perform two acts - the Origami Illusion as the opening for the show and their quick change act as the closer to the show. The majority of the audience did not speak English, so being that both acts are so visual, they went down a storm!

After the show over the weekend, the Quick Change Artists took a couple of extra days to explore the ancient city and had a fantastic time.

Next stop... India - 5 shows for ESPN!

Quick Change Artists appear and consult for Deodorant TV Ad!

Back in November, Keelan and Charlotte the UK's premier Quick Change Artists were contacted for their expertise in Magic and Quick Change to help out with the latest Rexona/Sure deodorant television advert.

After many weeks of meetings and consultations regarding the feasibilty of the quick change, the advert was shot in November in a London television studio.
The client insisted that the quick change had to be done for real and that no camera tricks were to be used. Keelan performed in the advert along with a female dancer. Charlotte consulted on the project and trained Stephania (the female dancer) to perform the quick costume change and some of the moves she uses in the show.

Sure/Rexona is a product of consumer giant Unilever. Keelan and Charlotte had already performed for Unilever at the end of 2008 with their Quick Change Magic act in India. You can see the full finished advert above by clicking play.

Abracadabra Magic Show, Cairo, Egypt

Keelan and Charlotte, the UK's only Quick Change Artists have just returned from Cairo, Egypt after appearing in a 4 show, magic spectacular along with the most famous illusionists in the world, the Pendragons!

This magic show was the first of its kind to be held in Egypt and the organisers took a large risk putting the show on but it definitely paid off as the four shows were sold out! The magic show was held at the Cairo Exhibition Centre and seated 2000 people. The people of Egypt, weren't really sure what to expect but their reaction has proved the success of the show, which is in talks of putting together more later in the year, also in the neighbouring countries. It was a first for the Egyptians to see quick change, illusions and sleight of hand.

The line up for the show was put together by David Lai, famous Mentalism from Maylasia and directed by Maylasian Illusionist, Kenneth Wong. The line up for the show was the US comedy magician - Jay Mattioli, Aerial Artist and Magician - Kristi Toguchi - The World Famous Illusionists -The Pendragons and of course us, Quick Change Artists - Keelan Leyser and Charlotte Marie!

The Pendragons, performed several spots in the show including the Fire Basket, the Broomstick Levitation and they closed the show with their incredible Metamphorsis Illusion which is absolutely mindblowing!

The group got on so well and the trip was a pleasure for everyone to be involved in. We met some amazing people, including the other performers, the organisers and the helpers for the show.

One of the shows was in aid of Orphans Day which is held on the first Friday of every April. The theatre was packed out with over 2000 orphans, who were brought to watch the show. We got to meet so many of them after the show, which actually was heart breaking, but we were pleased that we got to show them the Quick Change as it was something they wouldn't have seen before!

We just want to say a massive thank you to everyone involved with Abracadabra, it was incredible meeting you all and we hope that we will see you later in the year for a tour of the magic show!

Below are photos of our trip to Egypt!

Keelan and Charlotte head back to India

In recent months, Keelan Leyser and Charlotte Marie, the UK's only Quick Change Artists have been traveling back and forth between the UK and India, performing their amazing 8 minutes Quick Change Act.

Their debut in India was back in November to celebrate 100 years of Hindustan Unilever. The event was held in the 5 star Hyatt Hotel in Mumbai. Keelan and Charlotte were part of the entertainment schedule which also included a troop of 30 Indian dancers as well as a Bollywood musician.

We had a brilliant time in Mumbai, despite only being there for 2.5 days. It was literally a flying trip, but we managed to cram in a bit of tourist activity, and it was just as well, because a couple of weeks after we left the awful Mumbai terrorist attacks occurred and the Taj Palace was destroyed.

In February we returned to India, this time performing in both Delhi and Jaipur for AirTel and Vodafone. Our stay was 5 days this time and we were driving from Delhi to Jaipur so it gave us the opportunity to see more of India. The drive is around 4-6 hours depending on traffic and the entire area is desert so there were plenty of cows, camels and elephants to see along the way.

The shows went very well and it looks as though we are heading back out to Mumbai and Bangalore in early March for several shows again for AirTel.

I have added some photos of both the shows and our sightseeing experiences.

That is all for now and I will keep you posted on where we are off to next.

Best wishes,

Charlotte and Keelan
